On Tuesday, July 23rd, C2SMARTER’s NYU contingent had the pleasure of once again cohosting faculty from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) at our lab, building on the ongoing partnership between the two universities.
The day, a collaboration between KAIST’s CEE and NYU’s CUE department, began with lunch and networking, setting the stage for a series of insightful research seminars. We were honored to hear from Albert Tonghoon Han, Associate Professor of Urban & Environmental Planning; Hwasoo Yeo, Professor in the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering; and Reuben Tamakloe, Ph.D., Research Assistant Professor at KAIST.
In the afternoon, NYU Tandon faculty took the spotlight with presentations by Magued Iskander, Civil and Urban Engineering Department Chair; Kaan Ozbay, Director of C2SMARTER; Andrea Silverman, Institute Associate Professor; André J. Butler, Industry Professor; Lawrence Chiarelli, Director of Construction Management Programs and the IDC Innovation Hub; and Karin Ezbiansky Pavese, NYU-KAIST Executive Director and Senior Research Scholar.
Dr. Ozbay presented an overview of the Center, including our partners, areas of focus, recent honors, and examples of our state of the art research methods.
The sessions were rich with discussions on collaborative research initiatives and future educational and curriculum strategies. This visit is another step forward in strengthening our academic and research partnerships with KAIST, and we look forward to many more collaborative opportunities.
