Video Traffic Data Analytics

Overview

Preliminary Exploration of Video Traffic Data Analytics

Each year companies and agencies spend millions of dollars on traffic data collection. This traffic data is essential to conducting multimodal transportation planning and engineering studies to help provide for the safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible movement of people and goods in big cities. For this project, facilitated through the Town+Gown:NYC research program, the C2SMARTER team explored the use of modeling and data analytics to support New York City agencies (NYC Department of Transportation and NYC Department of Design and Construction). The work aimed to better analyze and evaluate traffic data collected as part of city operations and capital projects, including the ability to proactively assess traffic data quality.
