This visualization depicts average monthly MTA bus speeds. Looking at data from January and February 2025 compared to the same months in 2024, bus routes fully within the congestion relief zone saw a slight increase in speed. Express bus routes partially within the zone also saw a slight increase for peak times. 

Note that MTA is in the process of revising schedules on several routes to adjust to congestion pricing. The initial speed data may reflect buses dwelling at stops longer (despite faster speeds between stops) to maintain their schedule timepoints.
